Interviewer: Let’s discuss Consultation & Client Assessment in Laser Hair Removal. Before starting treatments, how do you assess your clients?
Uliana: Consultation is a crucial step. It usually lasts about 15 minutes, during which the client fills out a health questionnaire covering essential factors like:
✨Their hair removal methods in the past six weeks
✨Recent tanning history
✨Pregnancy or breastfeeding status
✨Any medical conditions like diabetes or a history of cancer
Once I confirm there are no contraindications, I explain how the laser works, what sensations they can expect during the procedure, and how their skin will react post-treatment. This way, the client is fully informed and comfortable before we begin.

Interviewer: How about Patch Test & Treatment Preparation? How do you prepare your clients before their first laser session?
Uliana: Preparation is key to ensuring a safe and effective treatment. Before scheduling a session, I send each client an online form to review their health history. Then, I provide them with detailed pre-treatment instructions, such as:
Shave the treatment area the day before the session
✨ Avoiding antiperspirants, creams, or lotions on the skin
✨ Avoiding sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks
When they arrive, we conduct a patch test to check their skin’s reaction to the laser. I also explain what results they should expect—after the first session, they will notice hair shedding within about 14 days, followed by a period of minimal regrowth before the next session.
Finding the Perfect Treatment Strategy
Interviewer: The Success of the Laser hair removal business depends on good results & client satisfaction. You mentioned experimenting with treatment intervals. Can you tell us more about that?
Uliana: Yes! I was taught one approach during my training; however, I found conflicting advice from other sources. Some said sessions should be spaced every four weeks, while others recommended increasing the interval between sessions
I tested both approaches on myself to find out which method worked best. On one hand, I did six sessions at fixed four-week intervals. On the other hand, I started with a six-week interval and gradually increased the time between sessions and the laser intensity.
The results were clear—on the side where I followed the increasing interval method, the results lasted for a full year before any regrowth. Meanwhile, the fixed four-week interval approach resulted in temporary hair reduction, but the hair eventually grew back. That’s how I learned that customising the session interval is crucial for long-term effectiveness.
